Indie record label Coconut Spaceship and Niantic Media, the creators of June Gloom, are presenting a new music mini-festival LUNAR BLOOM. The event will take place on November 13, 2021 at Oracle Tavern in Chinatown, Los Angeles from 4:00pm to 2:00am on 2 stages featuring 15 local bands, 10 acoustic acts, a DJ, and visuals by MONOVISION. Attendees can shop at the Moonlight Market until 10:00pm featuring a tarot reader and local small business selling coconut products, clothing, art, and more. Food and drink will be provided by Oracle Tavern.
The festival will celebrate the rebirth of the local music community, after the pandemic deeply disarmed the arts scene over the past year and a half with several beloved venues shutting down and shows halted. Curated and presented by musicians, for musicians, the lineup brings together artists from different orbits with the goal of merging together and blooming a new future for the LA music scene. The idea is for attendees to “ride the spaceship” and escape for a night to a tropical lunar oasis filled with live music, visuals and art.
The lineup is a diverse group of local musicians that span genre, space and time. Spotify featured industrial electro-pop band BOY DELUXE (fka Ever So Android) will be headlining the night on the BLOOM STATION outdoor stage. Other local artists include NPR “Best 2020 Tiny Desk” selection Piel bringing their enigmatic atmospheric rock show, local tastemaker radio station KCRW artists Triangle Fire and Little Galaxies, and Rolling Stone featured singer-songwriter and award-winning LGBTQ activist Ryan Cassata who has gained over a million YouTube views. Coconut Spaceship artist Niantic will be celebrating the release of their new EP Other Desert Cities. The East LA indie rockers have been deep in the local music scene since birthing local music festival June Gloom, touring up the West Coast and playing shows all over Los Angeles at The Satellite, Echo Park Rising and more.
Greg Gilman is bringing a taste of Writers Room, the Nashville-style songwriter round event he hosts every Wednesday night at North End Hollywood, to LUNAR BLOOM, alongside Hannah Rooth, host of Oasis House Show in downtown Los Angeles. Gilman is an accomplished singer-songwriter and KCSN favorite. His infectious sound and accessible, heartfelt lyrics have caught the attention of American Songwriter, No Depression and more. Rooth is an artist to watch who has been featured by the LA Times and is taking over Los Angeles with her honest, captivating voice. Gilman and Rooth will be performing sets and have curated an incredible lineup of songwriter talent to kick off the LUNAR OASIS inside stage featuring acoustic and stripped down performances from 4:30pm - 8:00pm.
